The cornerstone of Project Awesome is the book Awesome Women of Singapore.

This is a must-have collection of inspiring stories about the pioneering women who pushed back the barriers and opened the doors for others. They dared to dream and they turned their dreams into a new reality for the women of their time and the generations to come.

This 240-page book, which is recommended for children aged 9 and above but which can be enjoyed by everyone, is beautifully illustrated by 10 female Singapore artists.

Margaret Thomas, editor of the Awesome Women of Singapore book, and advisor to the Singapore Women's Hall of Fame and Project Awesome.About the editor
Margaret Thomas drifted through most of her early life. A teacher once said of her, ‘Often dreams in class’. She meandered her way through university to a master’s degree, then somehow managed to get a job at the Monetary Authority of Singapore. After two years there as a lacklustre investment analyst, Margaret joined The Business Times (BT) – and realised she had found her calling. She became known for her clear and concise writing and editing, and for coming up with innovative content concepts.

Margaret spent nearly 30 years in various editing positions at BT, The Singapore Monitor, SPH AsiaOne, and TODAY. She now works mainly on book projects and, in various voluntary roles, on the pursuit of gender equality and an open, informed, and inclusive society. She firmly believes it is important to dream.
